Landslide Repairs Complete

Repair to a Vally cycle track washed away in a landslide in 2008 is now complete, The South Wales Argus report.

The final stages of more than £100,000 of improvements and flood restoration work to a Valleys cycle track were completed this week.

A section of the National Cycle Route 47, which runs through Ynysddu, has been given a smoother surface which will also prevent flood damage in the event of another flood-related disaster.

Firefighters Called To Floods

Firefighters were called out to help a Beckenham resident who experienced a domestic flood, The Times Series report.

The house, situated in Gordon Road, Beckenham, became flooded after a washing machine malfunctioned.

The downstairs floor was affected by flood damage , however the rest of the house remained relatively undamaged.

Care Home Suffers Flood Damage

A Care Home was flooded after a resident fell unwell in her bathroom whist the tap was running, The Get Bracknell report.

Areas of Bracknell care home suffered considerable flood damage after the running water, that overflowed the sink, began seeping through the floor and into the kitchen below.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene after receiving reports that the elderly woman had been taken unwell in her bathroom.

Flooding Defence Scheme

Defence schemes are being put in place to tackle the ever-increasing problem of flooding in the UK.

With flood damage restoration stats on the rise more needs to be done to prevent the risk, DEFRA report.

The commons public accounts committee published their latest report on flood risk management earlier this month.

Flooded Village Chaos

Disaster struck as flood stifled residents of Oxfordshire village, The BBC Reports.

A 24in water main burst in South Hinksey, near Oxford, last week. At worse the water was estimated to be 4ft high.

Many residents were affected by the flood. It was reported that eight homes were left under water and 2,500 lost their water supply.

Call For Listed Barn’s Restoration

A derelict listed medieval barn, situated at the hub of Ledbury town, may be far too expensive to save, says the Ledbury Reporter.

Herefordshire Council is looking to rid themselves of St Katherine’s Barn onto a private company or community group, as part of its “asset review” programme.

The Council report states: “This is a listed building and its community asset transfer would remove maintenance liabilities of £600,000.”

Tenant Cashback Scheme

The tenant cashback scheme is still on track to launch in April, Inside Housing report.

The government is arranging last meetings between insurers and housing providers to discuss concerns over the scheme, due to be rolled out across England in two months.

Burst Pipe Floods Mill

A burst pipe in a mill shopping complex flooded the entire ground floor, The Lancaster Telegraph report.

The Ena Mill, in Atherton was badly damaged after the flood wiped out the entire ground floor and large areas of the first floor.

Cricket Club’s Extensive Damage

A Cricket Club in Buckinghamshire will have to undergo extensive water damage restoration work after flooding.

The Witchell Pavilion at Wendover Cricket Club suffered thousands of pounds worth of water damage after a pipe burst on the Friday night.
