The Muslim Burial Ground on Horsell Common in Woking is to under new brick restoration works.
The Grade II listed site was built in 1917 for Indian Army soldiers killed in World War One. It has been in need of brick restoration since 1968, when the site started to fall into disrepair.

Woman escapes Edinburgh flat fire

A woman was taken to hospital on Thursday 2 August after suspicious fire damage was started in the stairwell of a residential building in Edinburgh.
Fire fighters were called to the house on Captain’s Drive shortly after 9pm on Thursday 2 after the fire damage broke out upstairs in the house.

The brick restoration works are one of three such schemes in the UK to have made it to the awards final in the Best Heritage Project category after extensive public voting.

Ceredigion flood damage appeal hits £100,000

An appeal for victims of flood damage in Ceredigion has hit £100,000.
The appeal was started in June when the Welsh county suffered severe flood damage. Large parts of Ceredigion were left underwater with some 1000 people affected and numerous properties and holiday homes left in need of flood damage repairs.
