Heavy rainfall across the north-west of the UK has led to a flood damage warning, as rivers burst their banks and placed properties in danger.
The rain was especially heavy in Lancashire, causing the River Wyre to flood in the early hours of yesterday morning and flow onto nearby roads at Hambleton in Poulton-le-Fylde.
Although no homes were damaged in the incident, a nearby caravan park was placed in danger, leading to a Lancashire Police spokesman to issue a warning to people in the area.
He told the BBC: "We were lucky. Hambleton is on a flood plain and there is a caravan park very close to the river. Fortunately there were no incidents. The flooding was caused by both the rain and the high tide from the Irish Sea."
Meanwhile, it has been claimed in the Guardian that the proposed Hampton Court mixed-used development, situated close to Hampton Court Palace in London, is at risk of major flood damage as it is located in the middle of the Thames flood plain.
