Hospital in Enfield

The Ideal Group responds to a Major Commercial Fire incident on behalf of a Lincolnshire based Construction Company.

THE PROBLEM

A major fire to a hospital in Enfield badly damaged the roof and most of the supporting structure making the site very unstable as can be seen by the photos. Once the fire brigade had finished fire-fighting the blaze it left the site virtually waterlogged and our brief was to clean and dry the remaining structure.

The Ideal Group rapidly went into action and began the process of cleaning all of the fire damaged building. As well as the main building structure we cleaned the structural steels and provided a report on their condition.

The Solution

The extensive cleaning and drying work required on the damaged property was also made more challenging as there was no power available to operate all the drying and cleaning equipment. However, this was not a problem for The Ideal Group. This was an appropriate situation to employ a trailer mounted Rapid Heat Drying system which has an independent power supply. A small amount of electrical power was required to operate these units which have built in generators that provided the necessary power to run system pumps and heat burners. The property drying was acheived by using a heat drying process in all the affected areas.

The main benefit of using this system, apart from it having its own onboard power supply, is that it accelerated the drying. Consequently the hospital building was dried much more quickly than the conventional method of using dehumidifiers. Moisture readings were taken throughout the drying process and when the property was successfully dried it was handed back to the construction company.

The Commercial Project Manager from the building company was very happy with the work completed by the Ideal Group and commented “Thanks to The Ideal Group with their quick response, innovative solutions and thorough professional delivery on site I am happy to recommend their services to anyone facing the same incident we had”.
