Business situation

The warehouse had suffered from serious fire damage that left the bins, walls and ceiling with major soot damage. It was still possible for the staff in this area to work and so their day to day activities could continue. However the working environment was not good and the owners wanted the work completed as quickly as possible.

Technical situation

The Ideal Group sent their surveyor to inspect the damage and complete an initial risk assessment. In order to successfully clean the premises It was necessary to use high access equipment in order to reach up and clean the underside of the roofing. It was also identified that the client wanted the fire damage repairs work to commence within 72 hours of the fire.

Solution

The fire clean was managed and directly overseen by The Ideal Group Managing Director Javid Ibrahim. Javid ensured that the team operated safely within the parameters of the risk assessment. Two technicians using cherry picker /boom high access equipment (see left photo) started the work in October 2011.

The soot decontamination cleaning work took four weeks to complete and the warehouse was cleaned section by section. Each section whilst being cleaned had to be safely segregated off from the rest of the warehouse in order to ensure the safety of Trevor Young Waste Group workers working at ground level. This method of cleaning was also used in order to allow their normal work to continue.

The Manager from the Trevor Young Waste Recycling Centre was delighted with the overall fire damage clean up and particularly praised one of our lead technicians Christian for delivering a great service.
