A local shop fitter had been let down by their planned cleaning company and was in need of a quick response to ensure their timescale was met.

Costa Coffee is a well-known established brand of Coffee House with over 750 stores throughout the UK. Each of the stores has seen some form of upgrade over the last two years and their growth as part of the Whitbread Group has seen unprecedented development of new stores and refurbishment.
The Ideal Group focus their delivery around a number of the larger shop fitting companies around the UK, and more recently have been delivering a number of after build cleans to the high finish standard required.
Business situation
The Costa Coffee store in Bridgend had been operating successfully for a number of years but was due an urgent refurbishment. The appointed shop fitters were given a very short timeframe to complete this work.
The Ideal Group normally anticipate a request to carry out a builders clean and sparkle clean after the shop fitters had finished their work. The start date for this work is normally agreed at least a week in advance. However a call for assistance was received 7am one morning, as the timeframes had dramatically changed, and there was a requirement for The Ideal Group to be on site later that evening to carry out important cleaning work in order for the store to be ready to be handed back to Costa Coffee and the premises to be reopened for business again. The challenge for The Ideal Group was to provide resources for a full two days of cleaning at very short notice. The work required included the first stage builders clean, removing the initial debris, and getting the store prepared for business. A number of other trade’s people were still working at the store and we had to complete our work around them. However this did not deter The Ideal Group team who had to work long hours to complete the task at hand.
The goal was to achieve hand-over in the allocated timeframe; otherwise this could have led to loss of revenues for the store, and importantly potential loss of custom. Regular Costa Coffee customers could find alternative coffee shops in town, so the Ideal Group had to move fast!
Technical situation
Before work could commence The Ideal Group surveyor attended the site and carried out a comprehensive site survey as to ensure the right level of staffing, equipment and risk assessments were completed.
Solution
The Ideal Group’s solution for this challenge was to ensure good communication via the site manager and kept him up to date on the timescales involved with our work. Our technicians completed thorough “Deep Clean” and “Sparkle Cleans” after each of the other building trades had finished their work
The team finished a sparkle clean of the store in good time, much to the delight of the Site Manager Richard who commented “The Ideal Group team did a marvellous job under tight timescales imposed on us. In turn we needed to hit our deadlines and it was great that I could rely on The Ideal Group to deliver an exceptional service prior to handover to our clients at Costa Coffee.”
